RUSSIA. Leading Russian travel retailer RegStaer this week opened a new 245sq m duty free store at Moscow Sheremetyevo Terminal E.

It features all major duty free categories, such as beauty, liquor, tobacco and confectionery, toys, plus items such as premium seafood, and it also houses a wine cellar. The length of the shop facade is more than 60m, said the retailer.

Next week, on 22 November, RegStaer plans to open a second shop in the area, which measures 50sq m. This store is dedicated to sunglasses, luggage and travel accessories and carries brands such as Samsonite, Piquadro and Aigner, with Tumi and Texier among those to be added later.

The shop is situated in the zone of Terminal E which joins the new Terminal D, via a gallery that opened on 2 November. Passengers who have passed border and security control can now move freely between Terminals D, E and F. The three terminals can handle up to 25 million passengers a year between them.

According to the airport, Aeroflot plans to transfer around 20 flights to Terminal E from terminals D and F by the end of 2010. These will include two daily flights to Dubai and one each to Barcelona, Athens, Zagreb, Baku, Malaga, Madrid, Vienna, Bucharest, Bangkok and Tehran.

In the first ten months of the year Sheremetyevo handled 16.4 million passengers, up by +32.1% on a year earlier. International traffic increased by +24.9% to 10.4 million passengers.
